Take a journey through Indiana's history, from the age of mastodons and mammoths to 21st century science, art and culture. Families can enjoy hands-on science in our Naturalist's Lab, wind their way through cave replicas in "Frozen Reign," learn real stories about historic Hoosiers in our cultural galleries, and more. The museum features two floors of permanent experiences and one floor of changing galleries. The Indiana State Museum is part of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, a statewide museum system with 12 locations.

They have a good variety of history and displays. Some areas were closed. Good history for the state. This doesn’t take a full day to go through the museum.

Even if your a lifer, you will love the story that the Indiana State Museum tells. Great exhibits, and a great place on a hot humid afternoon.

There's lots to see and do here. See a movie or walk around and look at exhibits, or go outside to the canal.

The history of Indiana was very well displayed among things were prehistoric animals found, some as recent as the year 2000 in the state on farms by county. Great way to spend 1/2 a day in downtown.

We had some time to waste before our flight so we checked out this museum. The ice ages exhibit was rather interesting.

The amount of Indiana history in this museum is wonderful. It really provides an understanding of the origins of the settling of Indiana. Even for a New Englander this was fascinating. There are several interactive activities to grab a young child’s attention. The special exhibit...More
