Nice trip down windmill history. Guide very knowledgeable. Actually learned some things about windmill’s part in our American railroads.
It WAS very interesting. That may depend on who you are, though. From a farm or place that used these things? You'll enjoy it. An engineer or builder? Same thing. The history of wind power from gristmills to pumps to generators provided by a short...More
If you are looking for great scenery, local history, wonderful people and anything you could ever want to know about Windmills this is the place to go! Love hearing the stories they share and the hospitality they show! Check out the Christmas light show too!
Windmills have a long connection to this area. Greatest concentration of manufacturers of mills at the beginning of the 20th century. They have many to see inside and out. Volunteer on duty on the day of our visit was very well informed and helpful in...More
Quite interesting indoor/outdoor museum. Lovely setting to learn about American windmills and, if you have kids, they can play among them.
Got there after closing, but we walked around and got to see some fine windmills. This looks nicely done and taken care of. If you like the subtle differences in this machinery, you should visit. I only wish there had been a slot or lock-box...More
This is OK if you like windmills ; ) If you have an hour and are interested go ahead and walk the grounds and see some fascinating mills. I believe this is part of a triathlon course as well.
We went for a drive and stopped in and it was a great museum. Very peaceful, lots of history and lots to learn. The volunteer was full of good info. The old barn by itself was wonderful to see, the beams were hand cut ....More
A collection of 53 windmills on display with a pedestrian covered bridge and Koi (goldfish) pond. Knowledgeable volunteers. Meeting hall for weddings, birthdays, or reunions. Nice and clean. Reasonable priced. A delightful find.
If you like history, local color, and learning how things work, this is a fun, low-key place to visit. This town has a long history with windmills, and the docents are passionate about their windmills. Highly recommended!
