The Capitol Building is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever been in. We saw some people on guided tours, but we walked around ourselves. The library had an amazing spiral staircase.

The citizens of Iowa can certainly be proud of their state capitol building. The architecture is outstanding and they manage to keep it in good repair.

I'd forgotten how beautiful the Iowa Capitol building is... The detail is amazing and the view of downtown from the Law library shouldn't be missed. If you're up to the climb, go up in the dome.

One of the old time classic capital buildings. Interesting tour guide who included stories of the history of the building and its predecessors.

Stopped in the see this impressive building. Free tours are offered or you may do self guided tour. A beautiful structure that is being maintained in original historic state. A must see for Iowa history buffs.

We took the 90 minute tour and our docent was so knowledgeable and friendly. The building decor and style is gorgeous. The legislature employs two full time craftsman/artists to continually work on the building. The attention to detail is phenomenal. The law library is is...More

The state capital takes 1/2 hr to 2 hrs depending on how much you read and enjoy the displays. The natural museum in the building next to it takes about equal amount of time. We went with a teenager who was not into it... More
