Beautiful park well worth hiking in. My family (with kids aged 6, 4 and 2) loved it, as it had such different areas to walk in: some rockier faces, a woody trail, a marsh trail (in which we saw nature in action: a snake eating...More

Awesome park to have in Dubuque. Lots of trails to hike with good variety. You'll see a lot of people there on weekend afternoons, but even then you can find empty trails if you know where to look; hike out to the south end on...More

Enjoyed our visit to this park. Beautiful views of the river & the city of DBQ. Hiking trails take you deep into the woods where it is quiet & lushly green. Unfortunately, inadequate funding from the state means some of the trails are not being...More

We only spent a short time here and got the lay of the land. Will certainly be back to hike and explore. Advise having insect repellant.

The beautiful woodland park is just south of Dubuque, but worth a quick visit if you have time and a car. The view over the Mississippi is wonderful. The simple memorial to Julian Dubuque, the first European to arrive in this area, is sadly somewhat...More

So many different things to wonder around and look at here. The bluffs have history behind them, and it's neat reading up on it. The views of the river are beautiful, and there are usually different wildlife to see. There is a reason you always...More

We quite enjoyed doing some hiking here! We parked a bit away from the Julian Dubuque memorial so as to hike up there, but you can absolutely drive close to it. There was a good amount of hills, so be forwarned if you decide to...More

We hiked Horseshoe Bluff with kids. It's a perfect hike for families. Don't miss it! You can see the river, rocky cliffs, many birds, and more. It only took us about 45 minutes.

The park hours are uncertain, because we rely on volunteers and can not get adequate funding from the State of Iowa. We do have outside cooking facilities through out the park but I do not know if barbecue is referring to a... More
