This is an amazing place. But, if you don't spend time studying a bit before you come, you won't understand what you're seeing.

Fun free activity if you enjoy searching for fossils. It's open until 10 but there are no lights so better to go during the day. This can be a quick stop not too far from the highway if you are in the area.

Good call in information for the gorge via cell phone. Very intersting information in initial visuals in the way into the gorge. Caution - on an Iowa summer day - consider gooing in the morning, the rocks do seem to store and radiate heat.

The fossils were great! We really enjoyed it. Going back for a second visit today. Highly recommend this spot! There is no charge to go into the gorge. Short walk from the parking area.

The Coralville reservoir is a beautiful area of camping and water recreation. It is well maintained by the US government. There are a variety of camping sites available.

It's amazing to think that we are looking at fossils that lived millions of years ago. Truly fascinating. They also have a short video in the visitor center to explain how they discovered the fossils.

We were here with the Grandkids Tuesday. It is always interesting to come here, even if you do not take advantage of the visitor center. The rushing water released from the bottom of the dam is always fun to see, especially in the winter when...More
