The Stockman House has a fascinating history, from its beginnings as an iteration of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Fireproof House plans published in the 1907 Ladies Home Journal to its current site where it was moved from its original location and lovingly restored and is open to the public for tours. As with so many Wright homes, as part... More

We arranged a private tour for 4 of us. The volunteer guide (Marty, I think) was fabulous. She was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour very much and would highly recommend it if you're ever in or passing through Mason City.

The tour group size was manageable with a guide well versed in the history of the house and the town. The tour begins with a video review, then the group walks over to visit the house. After, or before, the tour you will want to check out the museum and gift shop. Again, everyone is very knowledgeable about Frank Lloyd Wright... More

After checking out of the Historic Park Inn, my family and I took a very informative tour of the Stockman House. If you're going to be in Mason City and like Frank Lloyd Wright, visiting here is a no-brainer.

This house is much older than other Frank Lloyd Wright houses we have visited. His early Prairie Style was much different from his later Usonian style homes. The tours of the house were very interesting and well done.

The preservation and restoration were well done on this historic FLW a home. We did the first tour of the day on Saturday. Everything was open to see and tour guide provided good details about the family and home. My only criticism is that they had a larger group tour during the same time and the tour guide 3 times... Nice but small FLW home with an interesting history. Quick tour and fun tour guide. The museum gift shop has several FLW house models and photos.

We were the only two people on our tour but all the staff made us very welcome and the tour was fascinating. It was well worth a visit.

We were really disappointed in this museum. Not your typical FLW house. Doesn't have the original furniture and wares that all the other FLW houses we've looked at have had. This was built for the middle class so it didn't have as many of the space saving and unique features that others have had, either. Just okay.

The house is very different from the other Wright houses we have visited, as it was smaller. The tour guide was full of details about Wright, much of what we had not previously heard. If you are in the area, do not miss. There is also a small museum and gift shop next to the house. The area also has... More
