Hiking here is so easy. You hike on boardwalks with steps. We saw people of all ages hiking...kids, parents and grandparents. Great views and plenty of parking.

Lovely park for views of the Mississippi. Hiking trails down to waterfalls. Playground area with bathrooms (open only in summer)

Great views of the river but they could cut out some dead timber to improve the views even more. Trails were well marked and very pretty.

We liked Pikes Peak State Park so much from our camping stay several years ago that we planned our recent trip so we could do it again. The camp host was friendly and greeted us. We actually picked the exact camp site that we stayed...More

Beautiful view from the overlook. Camping is inexpensive & clean! Cell service is limited at time & not far from Effigy Mounds as well as crossing the river to Wisconsin.

This park and the views of the Mississippi River shouldn't be missed. It is my favorite place in the state of Iowa to visit.

We were walking through there a week after. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Downed trees but the walkways were cleaned up.

of course you can drive to pikes peak, there is no "hiking" to get to the overlook, more of a 2 minute walk from the parking lot to the overlook.
