What made the visit special was a personal guided tour by a retired Air Force person who obviously knew a lot and loved imparting his knowledge as well as the conversation with my partner who had spent time in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and afterwards. We were the only visitors there on a Friday morning, so I don't... More

If you ate a fan of air museums, this one is a don't miss. Take it from me; I've been to all of them from Dayton, to Pensacola to Huntsville.

TONS of planes! Many, perhaps mostly, general aviation. A number of big jet fighters and a handful of helicopters. The placards were so-so, often light on technical specs. Getting to sit in a Cobra cockpit was pretty cool. A small handful of planes outdoors, but you have to have a staff member or volunteer accompany you to go see them.

I had read that Liberal was the home to WWII B-24 crew training and wanted to stop to see what the museum was all about. George McGovern had trained here. I learned that former AF Chief of Staff Larry Welch was a Liberal native. There were a lot of historic photos of WWII days as well as lots of documentation... More

I was told by this campground manager and wanted me to go to visit so I would not be bored by myself. I walk around the facility, can be 1-2 hours and the administration told me to taken your time and there is no rush. So I took my time probably 4-5 hours to made photos and read the plagues.... If you love airplanes and history, this is the place for you! Admission is $7.00 per person and it is a self guided tour. There are about 100 planes to see and their collection is growing. There are also a few planes outside to see including an older FedEx plane. There is also a gift shop for souvenirs. A great... More

A great place for the family to visit and interact with American history. My father-in-law from Chicago visited us and went to the Air Museum, where he spent 2+ hours exploring and learning about the various aircraft.

It was difficult to get to. At least the GPS had problems. Ranked as one of the largest collections number wise but I feel poorly displayed. All the planes were crammed together, dimly lit, and dusty. There were some interesting A/C but few of any historical value. What staff that were there were very polite and welcoming. There were no... More

This museum has the 5th largest display in the US and the largest in Kansas. It's impressive for the small size of the facility.
