An ancient Cluniac priory dating to 1049, with much of the Romanesque church in original condition (11th & 12th centuries). Features interesting carved capitals representing moralistic/biblical themes. Descriptive panels and historical facts displayed in English and French. Adjacent square for a drink under giant lime trees. Moirax is a pretty town with other ancient buildings, good for a visit in the vicinity of Agen.

A lovely 11thC church which has undergone renovations. Free parking next to it & a nice coffee shop & a great Michelin star restaurant there too.

Some amazing wood carvings make up the choir stalls. The space inside the Church is grand. It has a peaceful feel with many stories to tell.

A little village with an outstanding restaurant. Dominating the place a wonderful 11th century abbey - stark bordering on austere architecture. Amazing it's survived. Look out for the crazy cafe next door.

The church is beautiful but the town is interesting as well. Look up at the Romanesque vestiges of the old Cluniac priory founded in 1049, it is a marvel of Romanesque art (11th and 12th centuries). There are sculptures that decorate the facade and the chevet first, then enter the building to see the fine set of capitals carved with plant and animal motifs, and the wonderful stalls and carved wood panels produced at the end of the 17th century by sculptor Jean Tournier. Walk thru town to see the remains of a Medieval bastide town in restoration.

A real discovery for us. We spent about two hours here and could have spent longer. Excellent capitals and later choir stalls. Very worthwhile - less visited than the better - known Moissac or Caudouin . Trouble is, if too many people visit it might spoil the atmosphere!
