Visited by my husband & I. I am not a big History Buff, but I will say I was very impressed with the collections and all the info. Worthy a visit if you have a day to spend in Bardstown. There is also a historical village to tour on the grounds.

Lots of info but most cases had a uniform coat, a sword, a gun and some mementos. Was very hard for my 5 and 8 year old to enjoy it. Some displays were peeling and it would have been nice to have an audio tour that engaged the little ones and brought the stories of the soldiers to life. Could... More

We were in the area to visit Bourbon Distilleries, but being history buffs, we stopped in to see what was there and were blown away at the diversity and quality of this Museum. Great visit before we took in the Perryville, KY Battlefield on our way south to visit Tennessee and the Shiloh Battlefield.

A very large collection of memorabilia and historical stories, paintings, uniforms, weapons and so much more. Very well presented. A fully comprehensive timeline. We thoroughly enjoyed reading each and every story about the individuals and the families involved in the war. As an avid civil war buff, I would have to say this is one of the best museums I... The Civil War Museum is excellent. The pioneer village with several restored log cabins, a working water wheel and a creek is the perfect place to let children wander since it is separated from the nearby streets. There is another museum included in the price of admission which includes a women as soldiers exhibit and Lt. General Hal Moore (We... More

They have an awesome and varied collection - something for everyone. There were a few quite unusual items, including the battle flag carried by tthe unit of a Confederate soldiers who captured the great great great grandfather of a friend who was travelling with us.

We were surprised by the amount of items they had in display in all of the museums. Unfortunately, the Women of the Civil War museum is under construction until late 2017 so we did not get to see it. That was what I was most looking forward to. If you are in or near the area I highly suggest visiting.

The collection is one of the best I've ever seen. The displays are a bit pitiful, especially the stuffed horse and the surgery scene. We got a good laugh out of that one.
