Overview
More
From the time man first took flight in the early 1900s to the recent shuttle missions into space, South Central Kentucky has played a significant role in the history of aviation. One of the first pilots to fly in combat claimed ties to Bowling Green, as did a World War I flying ace, a pioneer instructor pilot, a Vietnam war hero, Commanders of the famed Air Force Thunderbirds and Navy Blue Angels, the Commander/Pilot of "Marine One", the presidential helicopter unit and the Mission Commander for the space shuttle Atlantis. These aviators - and their ties to South Central Kentucky - deserve to be recognized and celebrated so that future generations might be made aware of and motivated by their extraordinary achievements. This is the mission of Aviation Heritage Park.

Several aircraft that have significant ties to South Central Kentucky. Dan Cherry's F4, Terry Wilcutt's T38 as well as a few more. Nice little stroll among the history.

This historically significant and well-done aviation heritage park is a tribute to local airmen and their aircraft. Many, many volunteer hours have gone in to the restoration of the six or so aircraft at the park. Commemorative plaques at each plane tell about the aircraft....More

This is not a large display of aircraft, but it does have some less common ones and ties them in to local people who have contributed to aviation. The NASA T-38 is worth the hour or so investment in time to detour off of I-65....More

An exceptional park giving you the chance to see these planes up close - they are enormous. Plaques give you a history of these planes that were all flown by local pilots.
