The Loja Amarela is a handicraft shop in Provesende in the Douro vineyard area of north eastern Portugal. Provesende is situated close to the river Douro, between Pinhão and Sabrosa and about a fifteen minute drive from Vila Real. It is a really charming Douro village perched high on the hills above the Douro river with spectacular views down the Pinhão valley. The Loja Amarela sells traditional, handmade articles from all over Portugal - pottery, baskets, rugs, linen, soaps, sheepskin slippers, cork jewellery amongst many other things, made by artisans from various regions of the country. Visit the Loja Amarela if you are looking for a souvenir from Portugal to take home with you.

The products are really beautiful and the employees are great. Not sure if worth it going to provesende just for the store but the combo papa zaide and loja amarelo is a must whenever you are close to the city

Bought three items from this store in the lovely village of Provensende. A visit to the two churches, the bakery and the Manor House should not be missed. A truly charming experience

Our Quinta in Pinhao recommended this shop for handmade items made in Portugal. The selection is diverse - pottery (assorted items and patterns), blankets, linen, woven bags, and cork. I wanted everything in this beautifully appointed and well maintained shop. Prices are very reasonable -...More

We were staying In the middle of deepest Portugal and out of nowhere stumbled upon this amazing shop. Great local artifacts, bright and cheerful with a delightful lady at the desk. You must visit the douro valley and a small village called Provesende.
