We found this accidentally in our brochures and turned out to be a great gem! The "Obama" tapestry in the contemporary section of the museum is just phenomenal! It's hard to tell it's a tapestry, really looks like a photo print on fabric or something. Many beautiful pieces in all styles. Free Sundays btw!!

Visited this museum on a *free sunday* and loved it! When you walk in, the first room or two feel a little disjointed, but then as you move through the whole museum it comes together. They had some really cool exhibits, like the room from an English home reassembled in the museum and the tapestries. I also really appreciated the... More

Speed museum is well worth a trip. Has a good collection of modern art, painting, and the like. And when we were there the Native American special show was really informative. There is a section with older religious work.

First trip since the grand reopening of the Speed. Was so impressed with the layout. Seems that unlike the old space the art has more room and is not crammed together. Love the updated lighting. Could easily spend 4-5 hours there. The docents were very helpful.

My wife and I took my nine year old granddaughter to the Speed Museum. All three of us loved it. Our favorites were the Kentucky room and the ancient area. The sculpture of "The Prodigal' was magnificent.

In addition to fine art, the Museum presents descriptions of the works with many "back stories" of the pieces and the artists... So walking through their collections gives you a much fuller experience than the "average" art museum... Very well done and worth the visit.

The Speed Museum is a gem, a private institution surrounded by the University of Louisville. We were impressed by the quality of contextual information provided for displays as well as the intrinsic interest of the displays. Don't miss the Manship sculpture and the Grange room. I can't remember the last time so many exhibits resonated with me.

The newly remodeled Speed is a great addition to Louisville's Art scene. The rooms are spacious and displays are easily accessed. The museum has free admission on Sunday until 2021 but there is a fee of $7 if you park in the garage. Elevators are available to those unable to take the steps.

I LOVE The Speed Art Museum. Recently upgraded with a new wing, it is a wonderful experience. The Speed has a collection that spans over 6,000 years of history. It is a time capsule of visual history, sociology, culture and much more. The special exhibits are interactive, educational, engrossing and thought provoking. I recently viewed their exhibit entitled "Out of... More
