Apart from visiting the well cared-for graves of resident luminaries, historical figures and Civil War heroes, this is the most tranquil, beautifully landscaped and memorable cemetery I have ever visited. My visit was in springtime, leaves were unfolding and everything was in bloom - tulips, azaleas, violets, you name it. What a wonderful place to take a walk, have a seat... More

A serene, meticulously cared for cemetery. Azaleas, daffodils, and many other seasonal varieties of plants add to the atmosphere of dignity and caring. Walkers enjoy a safe venue for excercise while families and friends pay their respects to the deceased. Follow the yellow lines on the pavement to the most visited grave on the property. Thankfully, there are no KFC... More

Of course, you will see Mohammad Ali's gravesite and Colonel Sanders resting place, but did you know that the Kindergarten teacher who wrote the song "Happy Birthday" is there too? The grounds were in full bloom when we went so everything looked very picturesque. It is a large cemetery and a walk would have been wonderful, but our time was... More

Cave Hill Cemetery is not your typical cemetery. There are beautiful trees, ponds and grave markers. There are large monuments and grave markers. I wish we would have been able to explore a little more.

Cave Hill is not your typical cemetery! It has beautiful gardens, ponds, a large variety of trees and some very intriguing monuments. We spent over 2 hours enjoying the scenery and admiring some of the lavish monuments erected by families in honor of their loved ones. Some are works of art, some are enormous, some make you wonder about the... More

This is a huge old cemetery which is also a level 2 certified arboretum. It is well worth an hour or two driving through. There are many old species of trees as well as new plantings which are expertly tended. The grave markers are works of art. Two of the most famous grave sites found here are Muhammad Ali and... We spent about an hour at the cemetery during early Spring, so it wasn't as beautiful as I'm sure it is later in the year. We still had fun seeing so many amazing headstones, statues and mausoleum. We could have stayed longer, but it was closing. I would've done 5 stars if they stayed open until dusk, or let you... More

We spent part of an afternoon of our recent long weekend in Louisville walking around the grounds and visiting Colonel Sanders and Muhammad Ali's gravesites. Beautiful grounds and interesting history at this cemetery. If you are into photography there are a lot of interesting monuments. My daughter spent a lot of time taking pics.
