Well worth the trip for Civil War buffs and others. There is a great idea that explains why it was there and all the things that took place at this important Civil War Camp.

This is a historical Civil War park that most people in the region don't even know exists. Everyone has heard of the battles of Perryville, Richmond, and Camp Wildcat. They know that Kentucky had divided loyalties with the Union and the Confederacy, but few know the plight of the refugees at Camp Nelson. This park has living history events several... More

Wonderful location with many very nice displays. You can walk the grounds and see some of the defensive trenches still in place. Peggy who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and very friendly.

This is a very historical site and is an excellent place for hiking and taking dogs on walks. It is utilized alot and has archaelogical digs with our local school children being involved.

I was able to witness most of the speech by the Grant impersonator and a bit of the John Fee impersonator. They were both very well done. Regretfully, I left before the Frederick... More
