Located in the oldest building in Paducah dating to 1843, this is an alternative to the nearby national quilt museum. It has an informative 10 minute film. The exhibits explore the natural and human history of the area and the commercial importance of riverine ecosystems and navigation.

The museum tells the story of the rivers surrounding Paducah. The gift shop has some interesting items, from shirts and books, to trinkets and pictures. The staff was very polite and helpful. I will be going back again.

This is a small, out of the way place you can easily miss. Don't. I loved the information and history of the town and the rivers.

We recently visited the river area of Paducah as part of a tour group with my wife's employer. The river discovery center was part of the trip. The building itself has some nice history and the exhibits inside are interesting as well.

I really enjoyed the boat simulator. It is really fun to try your hand at driving various vessels. It's so good that I got seasick when I made a couple of wild turns with the coast guard vessel.

Excellent educational center for understanding the commerce and life on the Ohio River around Paducah. Many fine models of river boats. The boat simulator was wonderful! Don't miss this. We spent 2 hours at RDC and could have stayed longer. Also tour the river front.

This is a great place to gain the understanding of the riverboat trade. Everyone seems to love the simulators. Films are provided to tell you of the workings of the rivers. Very interesting to see all of the locks that you will go through if you took a long trip down the river. A great museum for the family.

This is a small museum covering the importance of rivers to this area. From moving tons of materials, to recreational use and flood control; the information is pertinent to what a huge part the Ohio, TN and Cumberland Rivers have played in the history and development of Paducah. While adults will appreciate the history, the entire family will LOVE the... More
