Great historical site, close to Lexington!

I live in the area and have visited all the furnaces in the area. This is the most intact furnace, and is easy to get to (not a lot of walking/hiking). Great history, and they do allow camping nearby. It's a great place to have a picnic in the summer!

The furnace was great but what I enjoyed the most were the surrounding sites. Frog island is a p erfect spot for a wedding. Hint hint

Finding directions to the camp was easy This is not a commercialized site, just historical, interesting, and quietly... More

A hands on look into America's and Kentucky past. It is amazing to see how this structure was built and to how well persevered it is today. Time has not been kind to it though...and there are many signs of degradation and some of vandalism. If you are in the area, this is worth the trip over to see.

You would never guess what a find you will come upon, pretty well in the least place you would expect. It is a bit of a trip, a nice one at that. You will come upon Aldersgate Christain Camp, which is a wonderful retreat for any term of stay. But in the middle of the campus is this huge, (Worlds... More
