Once described by Mark Twain as the "ugliest thing on the Mississippi," this neogothic building, situated atop a bluff, contains a stained-glass dome, an impressive spiral staircase and a museum covering state politics.

Our son and daughter-in-law got married here in May of 2016 and it was wonderful! There are so many gorgeous areas inside and out and we have hundreds of amazing pictures to remember this day! The circular stairway alone is breathtaking!

If you want Louisiana Political History, this place is a must see. Just visiting the rooms where history was made is worth the trip. Plenty to see and do in walking distance.

Friendship Force of Baton Rouge made reservations for our friends from Friendship Force of Bogotá, Colombia to visit and tour the old Capital. They loved the tour and the workers. They were impressed by our people and our city.
