Excellent way to learn about LA history

This museum has done a tremendously good job depicting the history, culture and regions of this state. Worth taking the time to see if you want to learn about this state.

Great history of the state, covers many topics & aspects. Best if you look at the guide first then try to go on the time line, based on the numbered displays. The displays were fairly close so easy to move to another section before completing one. Several groups of school children were there when we visited, they were having a... More

I spent about two hours and did not see a single visitor, on a Saturday afternoon. It is a pity, because it is a superb museum, from the museography viiewpoint. One learns a lot about Louisiana history, the obvious like the sale of half a continent by Bonaparte for $15 million, and less known (at least by me) such as... More

One of the best museum's I've seen. The staff are great - super friendly and helpful. The museum itself is really fun and entertaining - not stuffy. I've taken my kids several times and they always enjoy it. Every time we go, we see something we missed before. It's one of the greatest assets of Baton Rouge!

Being raised in Louisiana is a great life. Understanding the diverse cultures, especially of south Louisiana makes it even better. Not sure what areas are covered in the current educational curriculum, but if it's not covered, you'll learn it here. This is a must see for all especially those not from here

The modern shiny silver building looks out of place for downtown Baton Rouge but like many things, it's what inside that counts. It's amazing how so much history and "all that is Louisiana" can be assembled in one large room and it not seem jumbled. The layout takes you through time with sights and sounds and there's even a full-size... More

I lived in Baton Rouge most of my life and visited this museum for the first time a few weeks ago. It was a great experience. The museum had some great exhibits outlining the story of Louisiana as well as its culture. I recommend to all Louisiana residents and those interested in the history and culture.

Overall a very fine experience. Liked the overall structure of the museum: first floor dedicated to history and geology and the second floor for the culture of different geographical areas of Louisiana. And, of course, Mardi Gras is represented as well.

Baton Rouge was one of our last places we visited while driving through Louisiana and I still found that I learned even more by visiting this museum. I was also happy to see that we'd visited many places featured in the museum including New Orleans and Poverty Point and would soon be headed to Natchitoches. The exhibits were bold and... More
