1.5 hours spent in the Capital Park Museum (Louisiana State Museum, was the best. There is a nice "at war” section, where they have the hull of the second Confederate submarine (possibly the Pioneer --- OR NOT) on display

My daughter and I spent 4 hours here. She is moving here for 4 years for residency and this museum was an excellent way to learn some Lousianna history and about the culture!

Wonderful experience!

Broad coverage of things historic and cultural. Those with an avid interest in Louisiana could easily spend a day without exploring every item. Our "pick and choose" approach during a three-hour visit left us quite satisfied, with an introduction to several subjects we intend to explore further at home.

Good atmosphere, too, for a visit during this health crisis. Not crowded with visitors, sanitary appearance, well-ventilated. Wonderful experience!

Fabulous Museum! Don’t Miss it!
Nov 2020 • Couples
This was one of the most engaging museums we have ever visited. We learned about the acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase, the story of Louisiana’s role in the War of 1812, Civil War, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement. We learned about Huey Long and Louie Armstrong. There’s also information on the natural resources of the state, the Mississippi River, and steamboats. And then you go upstairs to the colorful culture of the area - food, religion, music, fun. This is a must see museum! Plan to spend at least two hours, although we spent at least 3 and could have spent more time. The young lady at the entrance was warm and welcoming - real Southern hospitality! This was our first stop on our vacation in New Orleans and it gave us the much needed background information to maximize our vacation. Thank you!!

Great place for the grandsons!
Jul 2019
Took my young grandsons to the Knock Knock Children's Museum to pass the time and give them something to do two years in a row. They loved it. If fact, the oldest still ask to go there every time I talk to him.

What History!
Dec 2019
We first visited this museum in August, 2019 when we were cruising the Mississippi from NOLA to Red Wing, Minn. We were there on a Sunday, it was closed but they opened it for the people from out boat. We were only there for an hour and had only experienced half of the first floor. That was enough of a taste to ensure that we came back. In fact, it was our destination after visiting our son and his wife in Austin, Tx. It took us 2 1/2 hours to see the rest of the museum. What a great experience. I would definitely recommend this museum to everyone who visits Baton Rouge.
