Stopped here while visiting New Orleans with our bus group. This plantation was more simple than some others I had heard of in the area. There were beautiful hanging moss trees on the grounds. The house had 2 floors you could tour plus a few...More

I suppose just because it's lasted all these years is why it's a tourist attraction, but other than that, I'm sorry, but I was not impressed.

Our guide Beverly was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable, humorous, and kept us engaged the whole time. It's not a big plantation but we learned a lot about the history of the place and the sad state of affairs then. Don's demo of bousillage was...More

I traveled there with a group of 11 friends who were visiting NOLA. The drive was 30 minutes from downtown, but seemed like another world. Had not visited Destrehan in many years, and was pleased with how improved the tour was. This is a great...More

We got this trip to the plantation on a rainy day. I wished we had gone on a sunny day so as for us to have time to roam around the garden area. But going on a rainy day is not bad at all because...More

I had higher expectations of my visit. The tour begins in their gift shop that has a lot of random stuff. The people working there are friendly. The tour starts with a very, very homemade video history of the place. I'm paying for a tour,...More

Is this across the river from Luling? What year did renovation start? I think I used to go to a swimming pool nearby owned by Texaco in the late 40's and think this old home was still in disrepair.
