Henry VIII met with his Lord Chamberlain William Sandys who owned The Vyne in 1535. This former Tudor palace turned 17th-century family home is set in 1500 acres of gardens, woodland and wetlands. As a major roof project unfolds, a lift-accessible rooftop walkway is scheduled to open in spring. Visitors can dive into the history of the house with an exciting new layout on the ground floor. You must visit the Vyne, National Trust property and take the lift or the stairs to the rooftops. It is an amazing sight. You can watch the renovations as they happen. It is not one roof but many roofs. You can see how buildings were built in the past.

The Vyne is easily accessible and has a good sized car park. The grounds are extensive with three trails (with a degree of overlap) mapped out for walkers. The lakes are of a fair size and it is often possible to see several fish species. The house is worth an hour or two of your time although undergoing some restoration... More

Myself and three friends visited last year and found ourselves immersed in a long history - 11th C - quirky house. Lake, tea room, plants, old paintings, below stairs, kitchen, etc. Also a church attached to the house (?). Easy of access to and from the house to the car park. It is a NT house. Close to the M3/M4.... More

Lots for history buffs, beautiful gardens & lakes to walk around. Very poor car parking facilities. Be sure to ask ticket prices as I was sold gift aid without being aware of a cheaper ticket without gift aid.

Bought tickets for the garden but as it was lunchtime, decided to go to the house and then gardens. They asked us to buy separate tickets for the house visit, where the restaurant was- it would've been cheaper if they cancelled the previous tats and did fresh combined tots for 5 of us. Also, by the time we saw the... More

A very nice national trust property, the top floors were off limits which was a shame but the downstairs was still a nice place to visit. I think summer would have been a better time to visit. The cafe was lovely, really nicely set out and the gift shop was very sweet. The only gripe I would have is that... More

We never visit the houses at NT properties always heading for the woodland walks or gardens but here right now the house is undergoing a big roof renovation job but it does remain open. In winter around the grounds there's not so much to see, the snowdrops are out however and the daffodils won't be long coming. Always a nice... More

Great place to let off steam! The kids enjoy the play area here a lot. The house itself is enjoyable with lots to see, only the ground floor was accessible when we went. Catering on the high side. Grateful we'd bought a flask of hot chocolate with us!

We have been to The Vyne several times, it is the ideal place to take children for a day out where they can run around. There is a play area and plenty of trees to clamber on if you have boys !! We were there at half term with 2 grandchildren (boys) although the weather was not so good still... More

This will be a really good place to visit once the renovation is complete. Only ground floor rooms available at the moment. The grounds are lovely, with several choices of routes to walk.
