A wonderful, beautiful place to visit full of history, The tour begins with a video that starts from the day the house was built to the day it was turned over for historical preservation. Most of the items in the house are original to the house including a dress that one of the children was wearing in her portrait. Even... More

We came for the craft show an toured the house. The history is amazing on the building of the house. It's so nice to see history preserved for future generations.

Staying in Breaux Bridge we enjoyed a tour of the surrounding towns and came upon this estate. We had a great tour guide. Fun, friendly and very knowledgeable. The site right on the bayou is very atmospheric. House is very interesting and lots to see but there is some renovations underway so you won't be able to tour those rooms.... More

We took the Shadows tour several years ago and it kind of lingered with us that we should do it again. We noticed some details we overlooked on our first trip and will probably return again to find out what we missed this time. Always worth the time and money to see this fine old plantation home and drink in... More

This place is worth a look if you are in New Iberia. The story behind the house is very interesting and the people who do the tour are very knowledgable.

This is a wonderful place. You get a real feel for what life was like way back when and you can marvel at the grounds and take it all in at your own pace. It's a special place in a special little parish and these places in America are disappearing all too quickly.

This is a hidden gem that we happened upon after visiting other attractions in the area. We were not expecting such well preserved home and grounds that was set back from the road and in the middle of the town. Personalized tour led by a well informed guide.

We enjoyed our visit to Shadows and learned a lot about the house, the area and its history. The house and grounds are lovely and well looked after but the highlight was our tour guide who brought the whole experience alive with interesting stories and lively humour.

This is a property owned by the National Trust For Historic Preservation. It was restored by it's former owner William Weeks Hall and donated a few day before his death. He also donated all the original furniture, portraits, clothing and documents. This is truly a national treasure. The house is located on a one way street. It is on the... More

Wifee and I first heard of this place from a Rouse's supermarket clerk who studies architecture. It was just a little out of our way, but so worth it. We had a personal guided tour of the house and was invited to stay and tour the grounds afterwards. Built on the banks of the Bayou Teche. The last owner had... More
