Well worth the visit. We had visited Avery Island in 2016 and were excited to be back in the area to explore more of the lives of the people landing here from all over the world. The live oaks in this area take you back to a time you could imagine in the South prior to the Civil War. Many... More

I brought my grandparents and my kids and we all loved it! Avoid peak times to miss the wave of tourists. The gardens are beautiful!

We were a little early for the spring blooms so the gardens were still hibernating. We enjoyed walking the grounds and touring the house.

We were staying in a nearby town at a B&B and decided to visit this island. We toured the Jefferson mansion, walked through the gardens and ate lunch at the Jefferson Cafe. The Seafood Heaven dish was delicious. We enjoyed our time on Jefferson Island and would recommend this to anyone. Azaleas were blooming all throughout the gardens, and I... More

My husband booked us a night at Cook's Cottage with our 3 boys. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The cottage was way beyond what was expected. They certainly provided us with more than enough snacks and drinks to get through the evening and morning with 3 growing boys. The grounds were... More

We toured the gardens but didn't do the tour of the big house. Lots of interesting stuff to see. We went early in the morning on a weekday and there wasn't many other people around.

Rip Van Winkle Gardens is beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit. We toured the house and learned about the history of the property and its owners. The tour guide told some interesting stories. I really enjoyed the gardens and would love to come back again!

A really good place to have lunch. Food was fresh, huge portions, quick service, very popular. Good to walk aroubd the gardens to the lake. Peacocks and racoons seen in the gardens. Would recommend for the food alone.

This is a lovely place to visit with a great history. The home tour was short, but all inclusive in the price of the gardens. I could not tour the gardens as it is not handicapped friendly for a walker as the paths are graveled. The café was delicious. The prices are a little high, but worth it for the... More
