The gates close at 10 pm, I doubt there will be anybody in charge to open them for you.

We live close to New Orleans and it took us at least 3 hours, but it was easy driving. One thing to remember is that there isn't much around the park so if you aren't bringing a picnic make sure to plan your meals... More
