The Louisiana Political Museum & Hall of Fame was created by an act of the Louisiana Legislature in the late 1980's. The museum is housed in the old Winnfield Railroad Depot (circa 1908) that was donated to the City of Winnfield by the L&A Railroad. After many volunteers, many long hours of arduous and sometimes challenging labor, and many monetary and material donations, the Grand Opening of the Museum was held on Huey Long's 100th birthday, August 30, 1003.

.

The museum has accumulated over 100,000 items of artifacts and memorabilia relating to politicians and the politics of Louisiana. Included among these items is a 1951 Chevrolet Sedan sound truck utilized by Earl Long in his last campaign, and the complete set of dining room furniture that belonged to Huey and Rose Long.

A historic repository of all things politics in Louisiana, which by definitely means it's not boring! Plus, Uncle Earl's Sound Truck is in the back room! I did hope the museum would focus on the Longs more, but instead you wind up with a diverse and well-rounded collection. This is a free museum, with super nice staff, and is definitely... More

Too much to remember but a lot of just real fun to see or real education and enlightening. We thought we would... More

This is a beautiful facility dedicated to Winn Parish political history. It's not just about politics, however, but rather you get a feel of the culture and background of Winn Parish. Check it out!

We're apolitical, so I wondered in advance as to whether this museum would hold any appeal. There are artifacts, photos and stories of Louisiana politicians; since one can't help but have personally met some of these men and women in the course of living in Louisiana, there is something of a personal appeal to the numerous displays. The museum is... More
