Camden is one of the finest towns on the Maine coast; but to appreciate it properly, it is also necessary to go to the top of Mount Battie and look in all directions. It will keep you coming back for more!

2 miles from "downtown" Camden, an easy drive (another 2 miles maybe) up the mountain from the Park entrance ($6 per adult fee) and very nice hiking in a couple of directions from the summit. Truly breathtaking views of the Camden Harbor, the surrounding hills,...More

Totally worth the brief auto ride to the top to see the expansive views of the water. We also saw some hikers walking up to the summit. It's not a long walk, probably about an hour at the most. Worth the hike or drive. Gorgeous...More

Quick little jaunt up the mountain and the payoff is a gorgeous view! Well worth the small fee to enter. We didn't hike but it looks like it would be gorgeous as well

Excellent view of a beautiful harbor, a favorite place for typical Maine scenery. In high summer or spring, If the breeze is good no bugs, if calm, expect the usual Maine insectivores, come prepared

We were amazed by the quality of the views after such a short drive up the mountain. Definitely worth your time and the price of park admission. Bring your binoculars!

Easy ride to top, excellent for older, less mobile folks who want that iconic bird's eye view of a Maine harbor town. Might seem pricey as you'll pay for a park pass per person. Maybe skip if you're going to Acadia, but if not, this...More

There is a fee to enter the park. The steep drive up is only about a mile long. There are a couple of turn outs to take photographs. Once at the top, the view is stunning. It was a bit hazy the day we went...More

its open now (daylight hours) and its always open for hiking in winter
Can we hike up the toll road in the winter, or is it off limits to pedestrians? Also, are there sledding hills in the park? We're planning on being in the area around Christmas and would like to enjoy the park if possible, with young children.

Camden Hills is open year round except if roads are bad. As far as I know, hiking in any time is permitted.
