HIked to top of Mt. Battie after hiking to top of Mt. Megunticook. It was a lovely view from the top; loved having the guide map up top that identified all the islands and mountains. As it was mid-November, we were the only people up...More

North of Camden—right off Route 1—is the Camden Hills State Park, in which Mount Battie is located. It's an easy drive up to the parking lot at the summit, where there are terrific views of Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay below. Near the parking lot...More

We did the .5 mile hike. Was a cloudy day, so the views weren't all that great, but there were moments of clearing so we were rewarded with beautiful views. Parts of the trail involve a little bit of rock climbing. Because of rain the...More

We drove out and found it despite the small sign for Mt Battie auto road but it was closed. So bummed. It was beginning of Nov so not sure it it was closed for the winter or due to fog or downed trees.

The Mt. Battie Auto Road is open May 1st - November 1st. When we have staffing available and the road is safe for travel the road is open year round.

We were recommend this by our hosts at The Country Inn. There are fantastic views across Camden and Rockport. Such a shame we didn't have time to hike in the area.

Great view and even better hike! Maiden Cliff was a good hike too but nothing beats Mount Battie. The view was incredible. On gray days even with a lack of view, the hike made it worthwhile. It’s the journey not the destination! In Mount Batties...More

You can either walk or drive but excellent views from the top looking out to Penobcost Bay and Camden area. The walk is worth it as shade provided all along track via trees.

Mt. Battie is a good novice - intermediate hike and, we felt like a moderate walk, so it was perfect. The Park offeres other trails to different summits as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Fantastic views of Camden and Penobscot Bay, even on the rainy overcast day that we were there. Observation tower provided a good view of the colorful hills to the west.

The road is paved, two-laned and 1.5 miles in length. Tour buses and motorhomes can climb/descend it with no problem.

It usually opens in May and closes after Thanksgiving to cars. You can always park and walk up the road year round.

There is a parking lot so you may always park and hike up the mountain year round. No sledding hills that I know of but the town owns a ski mountain called the snow bowl that you can sled at.
