Gritty McDuff’s, Maine’s Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty’s Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff’s Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.

This is one of Portland's main go to pubs. They make their own yummy beers and even have a delicious cask on tap. We ate a steak salad and a lamb burger both were excellent value and tasty. Bar staff very friendly and welcoming. Join...More

My wife and I have been several times and it is a very favorite for her. The food is always good, the service very good and the atmosphere is pure Portland Old Port- the best of the Old Port.

Great atmosphere, great beers, great experience! Loved our visit with the best seats in the house overlooking the harbour. We stopped in late afternoon to take off the weight (figuratively, unfortunately not literally) after a whole day of walking from West End to Old Port...More

Shrimp Alfredo had way too much black pepper, and some of the linguine had burnt ends (!). One friend had crab cakes that were just average, served with steamed broccoli that was raw. Our other friend had the lobster roll and fries. The roll was...More

We went to Grittys for some drinks after dinner. The entrance to the bar is on a cobblestoned alleyway, beneath the restaurant located on Fore Street. We had a lot of laughs, some pretty good drinks and not a lot of elbow room. Definitely a...More

Frustrated to have wasted my money here. Seems like a nice enough place to get a pint in the afternoon, friendly staff and decent atmosphere but I made the mistake of going here for a meal. I ordered the fish and chips. If I wanted...More
