It probably should be called Back Mud Cove as that's what it mostly is except during high tide. Still a great walking area for those so inclined and can get busy.

Such a great amenity in the City. Comfortable, perfect length and varied views make this a perfect walk. Could be improved surfaces but maybe that will happen eventually if more people communicate with the city.

My wife and I rented bikes at the wharf in Portland, rode around the peninsula and over the bridge to the Back Cove Trail. Nice, picturesque loop. The total ride was only about 10 miles. Great trip for a little exercise.

I was looking for a 5km morning jog on a trip to Portland. This trail was perfect for that around the bay.
