I have done the mailboat tour of the Casco Bay Islands several times, and each time I have been impressed with the beautiful views of the islands on the trip. The mailboat tour (through Casco Bay Lines) stops at several of the islands to load and unload cargo twice daily. The islands are beautiful and on a clear day, it... More

If you're visiting Portland be sure to take the ferry to Peaks Island and spend the day exploring, relaxing, shopping and eating. We rented bicycles and made our way around the island stopping along the way to climb on the rocks and enjoy the beautiful views. There are several quaint shops and some wonderful restaurants also.

We took our dog and kids on the ferry to hit the islands. Nice relaxing ferry ride out to Peaks Island. Great way to spend the day sight seeing and meeting people.

We went for a trip last minute to see several of the islands in the bay. It was very relaxing and a great way to spend 90 minutes. The boat was very crowded at 11 AM. The speaker system was difficult to hear. There were many people with bikes to take to the islands. Lots of kids and families. The... More

Took the ferry over to Peaks Island on a Saturday morning - little did we know that it was the same day as the Peaks Island Road Race. Had a great time walking around Peaks, seeing all of the adorable houses and weaving in and out of the shops.

We took the ferry to Peaks Island. We had planned on taking the car but didn't realize the ferry only held a few cars & you need to wait in a long line. We opted to walk on. The ferry ride was nice and a quick trip to the island. It seemed to be a trip that was quite popular... More

Didn't expect much but this was the BEST ferry ride ever! Very scenic and it was just a beautiful ride out on the water seeing the Calendar Islands & back. It was narrated so we got a good idea of the history behind the area and the lobstering information was especially interesting!

My husband and I took the trip to Bailey Island. The narration was good and we learned a lot of interesting facts about our town. While on Bailey we found a nice place to eat with fresh seafood and friendly service. The trip back was equally as interesting we got to see the other side of the bay. Easy ride... More

A bit long on the return because we stopped at every single island to pick travelers... but still a great experience and so beautiful.

I wasn't expecting much for this trip but was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The scenery was great and the narration was informative and interesting. Other than I feeling like I was going to get stampeded by a bunch of seniors trying to get a good seat on the boat when loading, it was a fun and relaxing... More
