The staff is very knowledgeable about their cheeses as well as a good selection of wines. Their Italian sandwich is second to none. Many other sandwiches also available, including a tasty cubano. Desserts are also offered, and although limited, are absolutely mouthwatering.

The Cheese Iron is the perfect one stop shop for the lazy foodie. The cheese selection is very good with incredibly knowledgeable and passionate servers. The specialty beef that they have on offer is pricy but off the charts in terms of taste. If you just want a quick lunch the sandwiches are fantastic. Enjoy!

We live in Gorham, one town over. We are huge wine and cheese lovers (but come on - who isn't). We discovered the Cheese Iron several years ago and have been loyal followers ever since. They let you try anything in the case, which is a great business plan when we end up leaving with extra. (Which is also always... More

If you love cheese you must visit The Cheese Iron. What a wonderful selection of local, domestic and imported cheeses! Every accoutrement imaginable - breads, crackers, jams, pickles, mustards, etc. - is there as well. Tasting is encouraged. A carry out menu is available and the desserts looked delicious. So glad I read about this business in the Portland Press... More
