This modest 3,000-foot mountain offers a big New England mountain hiking experience. It's a best bang for the buck hike. We took the Tumbledown Brook trail to the top. Easy first mile gives way to much steeper climb over boulder fields and numerous waterfalls. Alpine...More

Summer time swim in the high Alpine Pond, picnic above treeline on a craggy overlook. Multiple trail options make this a repeat adventure that can include several other peaks.

Excellent views. Many options to climb. I prefer to go up Little Jackson Mountain next door and then hike down to the alpine lake for a refreshing swim.

We took the brook trail to summit which is the quickest way to the top, the last quater mile was tough but we'll worth the hike. Spectacular views and the pond was beautiful! Approximately 3 1/2 hours out and back. One of my favorite hikes.

Some trails are moderate. Some are challenging. There's a lake at the top to enjoy. Connects with Little Jackson Mountain. Nice view of the western mountain range. Most photographed mountain in the area!

The most difficult 5 hour hike I've ever done, and a little scary looking down when you're climbing up the waterfall before Fat Man's Misery, but I'm SO glad we took the time to do this hike! It was incredibly rewarding, and we even went...More
