About an hour drive north of Sydney CBD between Palm Beach and Avalon Beach, its an off the main road beach with safe swimming area, good life-guard patrolling and the local Whale Beach surf club puts on a great reasonably priced BBQ lunch (spring, summer and autumn) on Sundays and hot Saturdays, drinks available, on the deck of the surf... This is one of Sydney's most iconic beaches. It's great for a dip , ocean swim or a surf. It is a patrolled beach

Intended on visiting Palm Beach area one day but when we arrived we were deterred by the amount of people about. Decided to drive 10 minutes or so south, down the windy cliff face, to Whale Beach. Vey picturesque Beach with clean sand and water. Good rockpool at the beaches end, plenty of natural shading and picnic/laying down spaces for... More

I was driving past Whale Beach on other business when I decided to drop down to the beach and check the surf. It had been many years since I was last at Whale Beach, and as I drove past the well known Jonah's Restaurant, I was noticed how much more expensive the nearby houses looked than I remembered them. I... More

If you are staying at Jonah's than a walk down to the beach is a must. The beach is a beautiful yellow colour with two heads on each side there is also a café on the beach.

Quiet and amazing even in Winter. Great views, plenty of exhilarating walks up and down the hills of the surrounding suburbs.

We visited Whale Beach for a several days to break up a 28 hour flight from Minnesota to Denpasar, Bali. I wish we had stayed longer! The Whale Beach area is a lovely little microcosm of Sydney. About an hour outside of downtown Sydney, it was easy to reach, and once we arrived, found that everything you could possibly want... More

This is a lovely beach, off the main road and passing traffic. It is a great surf beach with the well known"Wedge" for surfboard riders at the northern end. It is very pretty with houses facing onto the water or the sand, with a lovely sand beach and a nice surf. There is a safe pool for all at the... More

drove down for a quick dip while staying at nearby Jonahs. Lovely clean well patrolled beach with good facilities and paid parking. I hate having to pay to go to the beach
