This is a superb gallery with beautifully curated monthly exhibitions. There is nothing better than attending an opening reception in fine weather and enjoying both the man-made creations and natural beauty. The historic setting on the York River makes you understand the magic of Maine.

This is a "must visit" for anyone interested in high quality contemporary art from New England. Mary Harding has a great eye for the best of regional artists and makes for a delightful hostess as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and highly recommend it to anyone interested in New England regional contemporary art.

Thank you so much for writing. This is a pretty sweet place and I feel very fortunate to have this venue to exhibit work by our regional artists. Colorful leaves still on the trees for a few more days. More

The George Marshall Store Gallery is part of the Old Museums of York. The museum buildings are among my favorite places in York. This store-turned-gallery was built in 1867 as a store that sold everything from general merchandise to building materials and coal. Today, it’s a wonderful art gallery. I’ve visited this historic building and the adjacent John Hancock Warehouse... More

This art gallery is located in an historical building on John Hancock's Wharf in York, Maine. The curator always finds interesting local artists and I purchased several paintings over the years.

Mary couldn't have been nicer; she interdicted us to each of the exhibits and checked back on us throughout our visit. This was among the best galleries we visited, with art of exceptional quality. The history of the store is a bonus.

Wow. Double wow. Packed artfully in this small store is some of the best art in Maine. We loved seeing the selection of fine pieces. Still remember fondly the artists featured a few years ago, one of whom used found, everyday objects to create some of the most stunning (and sometimes hilarious) sculptures I've ever encountered. "The Chef," and "The... More

The gallery is located in an out-of-the-way place in York, right on the York River, next to a warehouse once owned by John Hancock. A very picturesque area. The gallery is small, but very nicely managed. they usually highlight local artists (many of whom are incredibly talented!) The exhibits change regularly; their website shows what's going on. It's definitely worth... More

Found this little gem while on a hike at a nearby nature preserve. They were setting up for a new exbit but took the time to explain about the new artist and some of the other works that were on display. I'm not sure if there is a fee when the whole exhibit is ready for show but we were... More

We started smiling as soon as we walked in the door. The exhibit was three artists, two folk painters and a sculptor who uses "found" materials. They were all bright, cheerful and fun. Mary, the curator, walked us around and clearly loved what she does. We did, too.
