The John Hancock Warehouse & Wharf are owned by Old Museums of York. The museum buildings are among my favorite places in York. Built in the 1740’s, this is the only remaining building in York from the Colonial Period. John Hancock acquired an interest in this warehouse several years after the American Revolution in 1787. We were biking and geocaching and came across this quite unexpectedly---it's just an old warehouse, but that it was owned by John Hancock made it far more interesting. Alongside an old wharf and other historic buildings, it's worth stopping to see and read the signs if you're int he area.

The on-site gallery often features two or three artists, all of whom are talented. But the prices for the artwork is much, much more than... More

It's hard to believe this is the first TA review of the Hancock Wharf and Warehouse. And actually I am writing this review about the art gallery which is at the same site. The Hancock Wharf is part of the Museums of Old York and should be viewed in that context - it's certainly not the highlight of the Museum... More
