Went for a few hours and had a great time! Animals are very friendly and there is lots of rides for younger ones! The employees were all very interactive and set an outstanding mood in general!

This was the worse zoo I have ever been to. I felt so bad for the animals the lion pen was so small for the 2 lions that were in there. The alligator pen had no water for them to go in. We never saw a white Siberian tiger which is on their website or an elephant. It was deplorable conditions for all the animals. The only ones the kids had any fun in was the goats and birds. The amusement side was just as bad would never have let my grandsons go on rides. I don't know why this place is not shut down and why nothing is being done about it. So sad please do something about this and get those animals out of there.

This was an absolutely devastating trip for me.
I grew up going to York's with the family. Was it always the nicest and cleanest park? No, but it was at least maintained with some integrity and the owners seemed to have some pride in their establishment.
Oh. My. God. What on EARTH happened to this place!!??
We stepped in via the main road by the Ferris Wheel. Without even being publicly announced, they closed their Iconic Ferris Wheel. There's a sign out front saying they're "making improvements," but the Jolly Caterpillar, Haunted House and Funhouses were all... just gone. Left were abandoned pads.
There also was a "Kid Zone" Funhouse just ROTTING and ABANDONED behind a fence with knock off Disney Characters. Uh??!!!
They added a "new" Ferris Wheel that was equally creepy with a Sun in the middle. Um...
NONE of the rides I remembered were there. No more Mirror Maze, No More FunHouses, No More Ferris Wheel. Just abandoned booths for food and gift shops that looked abandoned for years with MOLDY CUPS in their sinks. Yuck!
We were so upset and devastated that we left within 10 minutes. I looked inside the zoo, and there was a pond with ducks FILLED with algae. YUCK!!!
I loved this place for decades, and I'm SO Sad to see what has happened to this iconic park. I know the park has been for sale for around 14 million the past couple years, but it's clear they're just buying their time until someone purchases the property. So upsetting. It was a great run, but I no longer can recommend this once nostalgic zoo and fun park.

We had a great visit! They had so many types of animals. They have a SLOTH! The monkeys are adorable. The deer and goats were fun. It’s a nice little zoo. I was worried about going because of previous reviews. I’m glad I gave this place a chance. The butterfly garden was also very nice. They had so many different species of butterflies. We did not get to try the amusement park side. But I knew that when i decided on dates that the rides wouldn’t be running. Maybe next time. I’d definitely go back.

What a shame as what it used to be. SOME small signs of recovery and improvement but still a shell of what it once was.

This place is very old and tired. Animal zoo portion is sadly overgrown and neglected. Very few rides. Only one place to get food. I can’t imagine it will be in business much longer. Pick an alternate place to spend your money. $17 entry fee doesn’t include any rides which are $2-$4 each. Bring 3 kids and that adds up fast. I Wouldn’t recommend or come back again.

Let me start by saying all the staff that we encountered were all very friendly, there just wasn’t enough of them to have the snack bars or gift shop open which surpised me being 4th of July weekend. The animals all looked very healthy and one monkey actually waved back to my 3 year old which ended up being the highlight of the trip. We were soaked through before we even got our tickets but made the best of it jumping in puddles and hunkering down under trees. The bathrooms were clean but the paths were flooded, especially by the pond which had pallets to allow us to walk over. The animals appeared healthy but do need larger enclosures, time for updates folks!

It has been many years since I was last here. I did not visit the zoo this time as I had limited hours in the area. I concentrated on the amusement ride section. Sadly, some of the rides have been removed and haven't been replaced with anything. Several eateries and games were closed. It was sad to see. The remaining rides seemed to be in fairly good condition. I hope the park will bounce back, but I have my concerns after seeing things this time.

We had a great couple hours with my 4 year old. She loved feeding all the animals and the rides. I loved the zoo-the animals are all very visible. Food is reasonably priced. A really nice alternative to fancy Disney stuff. This is a throwback in time.

Most definitely. My husband had to have a hip replacement so walking a lot of long-distance can be tough for him and there are places to sit all over so he was able to enjoy a trip to the York zoo with our daughter last summer yet still not had his leg hurt
Can you bring in your own food and drinks

Yes, you can bring your own food, there were picnic tables all over the place. We brought a cooler, kept it in the car and then ate at the tables
Will this be open in October that's when we are going up for a vacation wait my family

It all depends on the weather believe it or not. At this point, they are open until the end of September, they have a calender on their website so you can check as you get closer.

The last day of operation for them is 9/25/16 for this calendar year.
Has anyone walked to the beach or downtown from here, while keeping your car parked at the zoo?

They have a package to buy for both. The Zoo takes time to go thru. Lots to see bring a stroller It depends on what you want to do and how much time you want to spend on rides or see the animals. Don't miss the butterfly exhibit. You can buy lunch or bring your on. You can walk down to the beach and leave your car there. They have a lot of kiddie rides and there is a measuring stick for a guide. Enjoy there are not many places left for this type of enjoyment. Also you can buy separate tickets for zoo or rides.

My grand daughter is 49 inches tall. Are most of the rides for kids 48 inches and under?

Does anyone think it's worth for a parent to pay for the rides? Most seem only for little ones so I didn't know if it was worth it.

Agree - if your kids can ride by themselves, you don't need a pass. If they can't, it's worth the small investment in an adult pass.

We are taking our granddaughters ages 2 & 4 on July 3rd. Would it be best to bring a stroller? Not sure how big of a place it is and don't want to end up carrying them if their little legs get tired. However, also don't know if it would be too packed to get around with a stroller. Do they have the coin operated machines to buy food for the kids to feed the animals? Are they quarter machines? Any other useful info. you can give me would be greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to a trip to make memories with them. We will also being taking them to Short Sands Beach on the 4th for the fireworks.

Stroller good idea. They rent them but may not have enough. Using stroller should be fine Strollers good visitors appear to be respectful for you to get by. They have quarter machines to buy food. Pet stores sell that food. Great place for families to make wonderful memories.
