wonderful for families, has a really nice playground, and arcade. Lots of restaurants. But beware of the tide schedule. High tide on a crowded day, means no beach.

Great place for kids to learn to boogie board as the waves are very gentle and make for some long rides. The sand is quite rocky but overall a great family beach. Food, games and shopping right by the beach.

Short Sands Beach in York, Maine is a small, friendly beach located next to a playground, a park, an arcade, a zoo, a couple of hotels, and many little shops and restaurants. The water is always pretty cold, with the possible exception of late August,...More

Perfect for small kids. Very clean, small, and perfect location from town. There is a playground right next to the beach. At high tide the beach is barely usable though. Close to shops, bars, arcade and restaurants!

This a nice little beach with all kinds of stores and attractions within walking distance. They groom it almost every morning early. Play ground for the kids, lots of parking, (pay to park), and a nice clean public rest room. Several restaurants, hotels and gift...More

We were there at high tide, so the beach was not walkable. The sidewalk above the beach gave an wonderful view of the ocean on one side and the quaint seaside cottages on the other. Worth a stop.

No need to get in your car when staying here at short sands. Restaurants, shops, entertainment, Nubble Lighthouse all walking distance. This is definitely going to be a regular spot to visit and stay - highly recommend Atlantic House Inn and Union Bluff.

Lovely place for a walk along the shore. Plenty of different things to see -- the sands, the rocks, the crashing waves. Great photo opportunities.

From the boardwalk (such as it is) that runs along Short Sands, my partner and saw: folks using metal detectors on the beach; a blustery wedding ceremony at the Union Bluff; kids on swings looking out at the ocean. Lucky us.

I'm looking for a location for a family photo session on the beach. Is this location still super crowded at 7pm on week nights in July?

Hi! Elizabeth It's hard to call the population during the summer. You could always go to the Union Bluff that is on the ocean . Ask to use their property (lawn) overlooking ocean. GoodLuck Also, you could go to Oqunqit... More
