Rented bikes from CT in Cumberland and went up and back for a bit. A nice trail that is very scenic and quiet. Great for bikers of all ages.

Great place to run, walk, bike. Many mikes of trail. Connects to montour and panhandle trail providing unlimited riding. Can even take a few days to ride to Maryland and D.C. If you wanted. Also accessible to South Park. I use it often for day trail use. I've gotten on at cedar creek, Logan , Boston , south side. Very... More

& members of family biked from Cumberland Md to Pittsburgh Pa. Trip lasted 5 days and covered 154 miles. Only trick part of trip was completion in Pittsburgh due to traveling in the city. Start of trip challenging due to climb from Cumberland to Frostburg.

We rode the GAP in October between Connellsville and Cumberland, over 3 days, returning to Connellsville by Amtrak. It was cool and rained intermittently. Wet leaves on the trail slowed us down. From Connellsville to the height of land is a steady uphill slog--not difficult or steep but unrelentingly uphill. The trail runs along rivers through forest, so it is... More

The Gap Trail is not for the faint of heart but we loved every minute of our trip up and down the trail. We walked from Frostburg about 6 miles up the trail toward Meyersdale, Pa. and back again. Nice workout. Now the kicker was when we arrived back at the trailhead in Frostburg we had to climb a hilly... More

Great rail trail. Slight uphill grade (continuous 1%) from Pittsburgh to the eastern continental divide. Well maintained by trail volunteers. Predictable surface even when covered with leaves. No surprise ticks, roots, sticks, etc. Northern section of the trail has more interesting sights. Later on there is a great deal of sameness while cycling along. Wonderful downhill run into Cumberland after... More

My family and I did the 16 miles from Frostburg to Cumberland this past weekend (late October). It is a pretty easy ride because if you go Frostburg to Cumberland most of it is downhill. Going towards the end of October had advantages, although it was very cold, the fall colors were absolutely breath-taking. The only problem is when you... More

Fantastic trail, beautiful scenery, and a great experience. Trail is well maintained and smooth as you ride 150 miles between Pittsburgh and Cumberland. We did it in three days and it was terrific.

I decided to ride the GAP and C&O on a bit of a whim and will never regret the trip! It was amazing. I went very early in the season (early April) and pretty much had the trail to myself. Camping was easy, sites were nice, everything was clean and the experience was worth every minute!

Thank Andrew F
