Beautiful Church

Lovely church, warm and welcoming. Old and historic with tunnels from the underground railroad underneath. Great hall for family functions and parties.

We were in town the weekend before Halloween and the church had a big event going on. They were offering tours of the tunnels. I love history and my ten year old was excited about seeing a place that served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. They didn't seem to be able to handle the volume of people. We... More

Two Sunday services . A beautiful place of worship. Friendly people. Surroundings are serene and peaceful. Wonderful pipe organ. Beautiful Tiffany Windows, Cross and more designed by Tiffany. Sunday School Classes, Adult Forum and more. Plenty of opportunities to be welcomed on committees and working groups such as grounds and altar ward to name a few.

We had been wandering around town and happened across this lovely Church. They were plaques all over describing the property that this church sits on. We decided to get a closer look and happened upon someone painting the outside lanterns. He let us in the direction of the church office which in turn led us to a wonderful woman who... More

One of the most gorgeous churches I have ever been to! The windows and the architecture are beautiful, and the tunnels are really special. Unfortunately there are no regular tour guides, so it's best to call ahead to the church secretary so she can be prepared to give you a tour.

Beautiful church with gorgeous Tiffany Stained Glass windows. There are tunnels underneath the church that were used as part of the Underground Railway system for slaves seeking their freedom.

Was given a tour of the chapel and tunnels. Beautiful Tiffany windows. The information about the fort and underground railroad were interesting but a lot of information to remember it all.

Ron gave a witty, informative tour. Nice background on the fort and the church. Fantastic Tiffany windows, which were a treat. Interesting tour about the underground railroad.

Just had to say thanks to Carrisa for the spur of the moment tour she gave me of this beautiful and fascinating historic church. I was sent here by the Park Ranger at the C & O canal because of the history connected to the Underground Railroad. The building is gorgeous inside. The Tiffany glass is especially beautiful, but the... More
