Haven't spent much time at the park with the exception of the 1833 lighthouse I've visited on a few occasions. On this visit, it was very foggy and one couldn't even see the water of the bay. It gave the lighthouse a very mysterious look. Having stopped at a shop in town I saw an article on the lighthouse with... More

We camp here twice a year, it's our first and last trip if the year. We are local, so it's a nice day trip as well... good trails to hike, pier is nice for fishing and boaters.... and close enough to town that you can go out for dinner if you want. Just wish they would upgrade a couple more... More

Nice Fall day, hawks, and water views! Take the very short walk to the Lighthouse at turkey Point. Easy walk for just about anyone. Not many people, and very peaceful. Also spotted Red Tail and Red shouldered Hawk! Bathrooms are at the campgraound and at the Lighthouse in case you are looking at the trailhead. It is a porta potty,... More

Beginner level hike, local bird club has a raptor counting team in the mornings along the trail. Views of the Chesapeake Bay, surrounding towns, and Elk and North East Rivers are spectacular. The Lighthouse is open some hours on summer weekends.

Definitely went during a quiet less visited time period since we were the only ones in all 3 tent campsites. But that didn't stop us from doing anything we wanted. It's nice knowing the bathhouses won't be used by anyone but us, etc. We spent one night and it was just perfect temperatures out with semi clear skies. The trails... More

I have camped in the North East Loop numerous times throughout the years and have always enjoyed my stay. This last visit however , I noticed that the Camp store no longer has the snack bar area. Less merchandise is available. I never saw any rangers patrolling the campground the whole four days I was there. The sites are pet... More

Elk Neck State Park has something for everyone. Camping, with or without cabins, walking trails, fishing lake/rivers, Historic turkey point light house on a fantastic elevated cliff. I will say for all the park offers, parking could be better at the light house/walking area. It does get busy on the weekends and the nearby town of North East, is a little... More

It is about a mile walk to reach the Turkey Point lighthouse, but the reward is worth the hike. The lighthouse looks out over the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, and sunsets are spectacular.

The lack of parking is the only drawback to the visiting the park. Once you find a parking spot there are several wooded trails that wind their way to Turkey Point and the lighthouse. The views of the rivers and watercraft is fantastic. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day
