Cheapest way to get to MV. No cars allowed on ferry. Lots of parking lots nearby. You can’t bring bikes on the ferry.

We got here early not knowing what the group would be like being the last day of the round trip for MV. This was our first time going and the Island Queen was the way to go.

This was a busy ferry with a max capacity of 500 people. We discovered this ferry by accident and could have taken the Steamship Authority line over to the Island as we later learned. The ferry was fast and the crew well organized. Well worth...More

This takes about 40 minutes and is a lovely trip across Vineyard Sound...no cars on board, no pollution. It lands at Oak Bluffs, one of the historic areas, and is in close proximity to bus line that goes to Edgartown as well as Vineyard Haven.

It is so easy to travel on The Island Queen. Parking is within walking distance of the ferry and the price is very reasonable.

Taking the ferry from Falmouth to MV is definitely the way to go. Its cheap under 10 dollars (although parking in their lots is 15.00 for the day) and you are shuttled right down to the dock. The ferry layout takes a bit getting used...More
