Beautiful walk on jetty and great location for pictures. Pictures of the harbor, the lighthouse, the sailboats. Worth the winding drive through the neighborhood. Signs say "private road" but the only road that leads to the nationally owned and operated lighthouse as well as the...More

Easily accessible but you may have to pass a guard that imply's you are entering a private road. Passing by to get to the light is fine. You just have to say so. Once out to the lighthouse, walk out on the breakwater for some...More

Eastern Point Lighthouse is reachable by car and also view-able from one of the local lighthouse boat tours. Get the US Lights app for directions and history.

You need to pay for parking. Lighthouse isn't impressive, but the view of all the boats was nice. Wish we knew how great the fishing would be. So if you plan on visiting bring your fishing gear. We didn't and enjoyed a walk. Look out...More

GPS took us directly to this beauty. The only catch is you have to drive by a number of "keep out signs" and prestine private homes. I totally get the frustration of the local homeowners, but.. it is a public spot. Even if the "parking...More

We had a hard time finding this lighthouse, but it was one we really wanted to see and finally we got directions from the owner of the B&B we were staying at. Once there, the parking is good and the views spectacular!

We got a tip from the local Visitor Centre that the signs stating the road to this place was private were false. Without knowing that we probably wouldn't have made it this far. Worth the short drive out of town. We walked to the end...More

I was enthusiastic about checking out this lighthouse, but unfortunately you cannot get to this location without passing through private residences and neighborhoods. When I finally arrived after weaving through residential streets, I was disappointed to discover that the lighthouse is fenced off with "do...More

Lovely 5-10 minute walk out to the lighthouse along the stone and concrete jetty. The views of Gloucester are beautiful. There is very little parking and often, especially on weekends, there is a $5.00 parking fee. After parking, one must walk along a path of...More

This "famed" Gloucester Lighthouse at the Coast Guard Station may look nice from the ocean but it is a borderline eyesore from land. Surrounded by an ugly chain link fence with "Do Not Enter" signs sprinkled about. The drive in from the the main road...More

Eastern Points Lighthouse is the private residence of the local Coast Guard commander and family. It is not open to the public.
Why is there so much confusion on paid parking, no parking fee. No signs to lead a visitor to the site? Private road signs to discourage? Why make it so difficult for one to enjoy something so historically part of America's?

Years ago there was always a parking spot available; sort of a unknown hideaway. Now that it is more well known, they want to charge for parking. I think it is worth the fee. The walk out onto the breakwater is... More
