Wonderful way to spend the day visiting art galleries and local cooperatives, restaurants, a cultural center, a marine railway and surrounded by water views. A must see day or night.

Can't come to Gloucester and not visit Rocky Neck. Lots of sights and items to view and take home! Artists are great to talk with and everything has its own story.

Rocky Neck is home to one of the oldest continuously operating art colonies in the United States. Having grown up here, I enjoyed the gallery sat for many of the artists, as well as worked the restaurant scene at the end of the neck! Today,...More

On Rocky Neck one can easily walk from one of many art galleries to the next, browsing all the while and taking in the scene. Each gallery has its own atmosphere and offerings, and one can see artists at work. Don't expect elegance. The houses...More

On this small slice of land on Gloucester Harbor is a staggering collection of artists and artisans. Streets are narrow and winding, so on foot is the best way to explore.

We stayed close to the Rocky Neck so we were able to walk to gallery area. There are several galleries, a couple of restaraun/t bars, and an ice cream place. The strip is right on the water, so it is fun to see all the...More

Rocky Neck Art Colony is a relatively small and very pretty street that is tourist shop after tourist shop. There is plenty of kitsch for those who want it. We were there on a Tuesday and the crowd was very manageable but during the weekends...More

It depends on what you consider "walking". Everything is in a 3-5 mile radius. but you can go downtown from the train and take a charming ferry to Rocky Neck or the CATA bus (Cape Ann Transportation Authority)
