Buckman Tavern is closed for the Season. We will be re-opening in March of 2016.

This Historic Tavern is one of the few colonial era buildings still standing around the Battle Green and was used by the Lexington Militia on April 19th, 1775 as a gathering place. It is now a Museum with self-guided audio tours.

We had a Boston Go Pass so decided to take this in as part of our pass. I'm really not sure if this is worth the $8 we would have had to pay if we were without the pass. The John Hancock silk vest is really neat, but there is an upstairs section that is geared for all social media.... More

It was great! We bought and mailed a post card from the first Lexington post office .... Only $1.00. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Boston. It's a drive away but worth it! A short drive away is a couple other museums so you can hit those too!

Drop into the visitor center first to brush up on the local history and then take a short walk to visit the tavern. It only has 5 rooms but does give a great feel for life at the time and the start of the war. Hard to believe you are there. I did think the price of 21 dollars for... More

I visited this location a few years ago. If you are a history buff, this is a must see. This was the gathering place of the militia back in April 1775. There are bullet holes in the original door. The tour was fun, great part of American History!

OK - this is smack at the beginning of town - not on the outskirts, just right there on Mass. Ave. AND it is across the street from the town green where yes - on April 19, at the wee hour of 5:00 a.m., they reenact the battle between the Minutemen & the British. Naturally, the BEST time to see... More

This tavern in Lexington is the gathering place of the soldiers of the militia, April 19, 1775. They stayed here and waited for the British troops till the "Battle of Lexington," the first battle in the American Revolution. There's a modest fee to enter the museum and I highly recommend it.

I've lived a few miles away from Buckman Tavern for several decades but only did the tour there for the first time about ten years ago, and since have repeated it a few times, each time I've had out of state visitors - all who've enjoyed it immensely. The tour is a joy - the guides share very interesting historical... More

While there are many historical buildings in Lexington, Buckman tavern is special because of it proximity to the Independence Day battle place and its use as a meeting place for the militia while planning their battle for independence. If you are unfamiliar with revolutionary history, this is a great place to start, as it will give you an overview to... More

The Buckman Tavern is a must see if visiting Lexington MA. The folks there are the best, they understand the real history and can laugh at Hollywood's rendition of it too. I'm a huge history fan but walking through the rooms of Buckman Tavern was more a trip through time than just a visit to another tavern. The very real... More
