Great restaurants (Fitswilly's, Northampton Brewhouse, Luke's, East Side Grill, Spoleto's, Thai Garden to name a few), coffee shops galore, awesome downtown, and don't forget the ice cream at Herms...enough said! I come to Northampton at least monthly. This is a great town with a lot to do. Northampton is my favorite central New England town followed by Keene, NH.

Architectural treats include the courthouse, town hall, and the Academy of Music. Go on a Sunday to view the tiffany windows in the First Church. Attend a concert at the Calvin for a auditory treat. Shop for fun at faces, thornes, and the many independently owned shops and galleries. Enjoy work class wine, cheese, and meats at Provisions or State... More

Such a great historic town with small shoppes and restaurants. History is truly preserved here and there is so much to do.

Small and intimate, Historic Northampton combines great local history with US history. Northampton was the home to Calvin Coolidge, and the museum includes an interesting view into the life of small New England towns. Plus it houses a remarkable antique basket collection. A must see.

Northampton itself has a lot to offer. They are restaurants of every cuisine and shops offering everything a shopper might desire. Architecturely beautiful. Feels very safe even though there seem to be a great number of seemingly disadvantaged people asking for money on the sidewalks. Parking is free on the weekend, so park and walk the downtown area and enjoy.

There's something for everybody here. I recommend people-watching, though. Slow down and watch life here because this place has some colourful people in it. Back to your teenager: If you come from a very conservative town and they feel alone all the time, this place may give them a little hope. My daughter especially likes Dobra Tea, the art galleries,... More

We go to this town at least 2 times a year for the day or 1 night. Lots of small shops with good reasonable restaurants. Northampton is a quaint New England town.

We hadn't been here in a decade or so and came up for a relaxing weekend to shop and enjoy the restaurants. At every pay station for parking on Main street we were acosted by people begging.... How do you ignore people getting right in your face while you are putting change in the pay meters? It was sad, disturbing,... More

Plenty of little shops to explore on a very walkable Main Street area. There are parking all around with no fee after 6:00 as a shop owner took the time to come out to tell us. Even the Urban Outfitters is an interesting place to visit.

This is a great college town accentuated by Smith College. It is historic and cultural.. for the young and old alike.
