About
Try your luck at catching the brass ring and winning a free ride on the oldest working carousel in the U.S., which has been enchanting children and adults for over a hundred years. The 20 hand-carved horses on this official historic landmark have real horsehair manes and tails.

The history alone of this place is worth the visit. One of only 2 of its kind still operating in the US. It’s not just for kids-if your a history buff please check it out. It’s so cool!

This was a cute kid area of Martha’s Vineyard. Very nostalgic and the young children seemed to really enjoy this.

Very busy carousel. Horses are static but you can gather rings for a free ride. Young kids will like it.

This is the oldest platform carousel in America. It is more than just riding in a circle. There is a ring game, too, where riders try to grab rings as they circle around. If you get the brass ring, you win another ride. I got the brass ring, but gave my free ride to a little kid.

Kids loved it! They get rings, and if you get the gold one, you get to go again! Parents loved the history of it. Is well maintained, and amazing to think how many people has enjoyed this ride over the many years it's been. Very glad we stopped by.

A must do based on the historical significance and just the fun of grabbing the brass ring. Close to all the shops in Oak Bluffs

Although the carousel wasn't operating (during off season it only operates on weekends), it was open from 10-2 (I think) for photos! Lee volunteers his time to have it open so people can take photos on the horses. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We had a nice chat.

Its not just for kids.
The Flying Horse carousel is an Oak Bluff historic tradition. It is listed as the oldest platform carousel in the nation, operating since 1884.
