Try your luck at catching the brass ring and winning a free ride on the oldest working carousel in the U.S., which has been enchanting children and adults for over a hundred years. The 20 hand-carved horses on this official historic landmark have real horsehair manes and tails.

This is the oldest continuing operating carousel in the United States. Local kids grow up being allowed to go , by their parents, only on rainy days. Reach for the golden ring, and win a free ride.

Transported from Coney Island Brooklyn in 1884, this is America's oldest platform carousel. Near the shore, a few blocks from the gingerbread houses.

Had a great time riding the carousel horses. Great piece of history. Didn't get a brass ring for a free ride, but definitely a good experience.

Experiencing Flying Horses the first time for me was 56 years ago! It was thrilling then and I still feel the thrill now when I go around and catch the gold ring!! It's a must thing to do when visiting the island.

This is the oldest of its type in America. Fun for all ages; try to score the rings, hear the classic music...If you can, take the time to look at the building, the horses, paintings, etc. It is closed for the winter; check status before you try to see it...

We stopped in to see the Flying Horses Carousel while in Oak Bluffs this summer. It's America's oldest operating platform carousels and is a national landmark. It started its life as a Coney Island, NY amusement after its construction in 1876. It was moved to Oak Bluffs in 1884. (I can't fathom how these things last so long, but I'm... More
