Troy was a wonderful tour guide, as other reviewers have said, and the Aquinnah stop was well timed, interesting and delightful. Having the restroom and the lobby of the Dockside Inn as a home base was a real plus. Booking and paying on line in advance via their website worked well. We booked the 9 AM Island Queen Oak Bluff ferry over, with the 2:15 PM return, which worked out perfectly for our 1030 am to 1 pm History (bus) Tour with Oak Bluffs Land and Wharf Tours. That schedule gave us enough time after our tour with Troy to walk around the port and visit the Camp Meeting Association gingerbread houses and tabernacle before we walked back to the Island Ferry seating area to board our return ferry.

I would highly recommend riding with Troy for this tour. We may even do it again when back in the Vineyard. It was like listening to a historian with a little celebrity gossip along the way. Thanks Troy for a great tour.

We enjoyed everything about this 2 1/2 hour trip! Dave, our driver and historian of Martha's Vineyard, shared so much about the history of the six towns, its leaders of long ago and current overview of the island today and its people. He related well with the folks on-board and answered all of our questions throughout our time together. He displayed a passion for the island's history, its people of long ago who laid the foundation for what it is today. The group agreed this was the best decision for us to learn as much as possible about Martha's Vineyard with the day we had on the island. Dave should be complimented with his knowledge, energy and personality during our hours together. In addition, he was very sensitive to the needs and interests of the group - THANKS!

Our tour guide seemed to be doing this for the first time and thinking of things to tell those of us in the van. Most of the tour was “I’ll tell you about that but hold on, first this, and where was I again, and I was suppose to tell you.” He was all over the place in his thoughts. Okay now the worst part. I completely forgot about a tip and we were informed by the driver that we should tip $10 each. Only have a $5 we gave it to him and we’re heckled for giving so little. It was extremely rude and absolutely embarrassing. How dare he belittle us for giving money I worked hard to earn.
