If you do not want to take a ferry and if you want to walk the sand alone or in peace, try a visit in October .....I did swim. Watch the birds - all a slice of heaven.

This is just a delightful and fairly quirt beach during the week It is great for those who love to fish Just be aware that the beach drops away fairly quickly but nonetheless the whole area is beautiful!!!!!!

I love this place. Long stretches of beaches and only the occasional walker. This is a great place for a quiet lunch and chair.

The header on this article claims dogs are allowed on the beach 9/15. Not true. The beach is open to dogs October 15th - May 15th. Remember to clean up after your dog, or we will lose those privileges, too.

July 4th for 4-6 weeks, depending on heat/ humidity. The hotter it is, the earlier they appear and the longer they're around.
