The history at burial hill was really cool, unfortunately many of the grave stones were so worn you could't read them. The original grave markers were wood so those obviously have not survived. What could be an extremely magical place was a let down due to the commercial buildings right next door, construction, and litter strewn streets. I would have... More

Yes, it's uphill & yes, there are steep steps but your reward will be worth every step. Excellent panoramic view of the harbor, site of the original fort, historic graves & a sense of wonder...how in the world did the Pilgrims survive? My hat's off to Gov. Bradford for convincing the Pilgrims to climb that hill, build the fort, &... More

This is a great example of early New England cemeteries. A lot of these head stones date back to the 1600s and are still legible. This is a great cemetery to check out. It also offers some really nice views of the town below and the bay.

Worth visiting, especially for school kids who have learned about the pilgrims, as some of the names on the graves will be recognizable, such as Bradford. Even if you are not interested in a historical cemetery, the views from the top are worth the climb. The main negative I have is that it would have been useful to have a... More

We walked from the Grist Mill to Burial Hill. It was worth the short uphill walk. The graves and headstones are some of the oldest in America. It was quiet and peaceful. It interesting to read the dates, names and epitaphs. The view of the water was lovely as the leaves were not yet on the trees.

I really like poking around cemeteries so was in my element here much to the frustration of my kids! But its an amazing place to really get an idea of how long people lived & how they marked death& its all real (not re-created). The best & oldest burial ground I have seen! Very pleasant aspect on the top of... More

Take your time here folks. Consider getting in touch with "Spirit of Plymouth" for a tour. No I have no interest and am not compensated. Just did that and it was fabulous. Guide actually wears period costume. Have fun.

We came here right before Winter Storm Stella hit, so we stayed about 2 minutes before racing back to the car. The graveyard looked super awesome and I wish I could have stayed longer. If you get a chance, take the ghost tour and learn the history of the graveyard.

If you're a history buff and are curious about our rich Christian heritage, see this place. But it's best to get a tour with Leo Martin from the Jenny Museum if you want to hear an accurate and passionate account of Pilgrim history.

It is definitely a hill and definitely a hike. I was looking for specific graves and found none. It was beautiful, but they need some kind of map to find the Mayflower survivors among the many gravesites for people who lived in the 1800s.
