We enjoyed visiting the oldest house on Cape Cod. It was a rainy dreary day, and the 2 women running the tour were so knowledgeable about the history of the area and the people. My husband and son and I left with a better understanding...More

After six years of trying to get into this place, because of the limited hours, I finally made it on a very rainy Sunday afternoon. The inside is beautifully restored and there were two docents who tag-teamed a guided tour. I have to say, maybe,...More

The Hoxie House is in beautiful condition. It has been restored and preserved in a wonderfully simple manner. Everything in the house including the floors is either original or period. They have done a great job with it. The two guides were excellent. Very personable...More

Two very knowledgeable guides offered a very interesting and comprehensive tour of this very important home. Don't let the impatient review from one person who seemed to think she knows it all dissuade you from taking this in. Worth the cost of admission and your...More

Very cool historical house, definitely worth the visit. They have a couple of very nice volunteers manning the house and more than willing to show you around and tell you about it. There are some very cool things, including a loom that was apparently rescued...More

Fascinating visit into the physical and linguistic past. The two guides were extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house and the period (just years after the Pilgrims, or the 'Newcomers' as they called themselves arrived in 1620) but also could explain our linguistic development...More

A brief, narrated tour of the Hoxie House in Sandwich, Massachutsetts gives visitors a chance to experience the fun and hardships of life in the 17th century. The oldest house on Cape Cod dates back to circa 1640. The two ladies who conduct the tour...More

Given it's the oldest intact house on the Cape, its worth visiting. I visited it off hours and don't really think I needed to come back for the tour. The tour is longer and the pace for younger people is way to slow. I was...More

The two ladies who were the tour guides were great. They explained how certain sayings came about, the history of the house and its occupants, as well as showing us different articles used hundreds of years ago. Well worth the visit.

A quick stop but very very interesting, tour guides were volunteers who were very knowledgeable about the history and enjoyed telling about it, really makes you appreciate how hard life was then (and how relatively it is easy now!), definitely worth visiting.
